Irpin Opposition Leaders Threatened with Physical Punishment

Five anonymous phone calls threatening physical castigation were received on December 12 in the Irpin offices of Viktor Yushchenko's campaign committee and public organization "For Honest Government" (Za Chesnu Vladu) - both located in the same building. Myroslava Svystovych, who is both the director of Yushchenko's campaign committee and of the organization "For Honest Government," her husband Mykhaylo, and secretary Tetyana Skryplenko were all threatened.

The callers' voices (four male and one female) were totally different, except for that of the last two calls. The anonymous callers were upset with yesterday's public meeting organized by "For Honest Government" where the impeachment of Irpin's mayor and member of the Party of Regions, Volodymyr Skarzhynsky, was initiated. They promised the Svystovychs and Skryplenko "two meters of soil" (i.e. a grave) and said that Skryplenko would never again see her son, who is her assistant. They also asserted that " Yanukovych will soon come to power and that heads will roll."
